Sergio Zenato nurtures a dream: to give voice to the land, turning grapes and passion into unforgettable emotions.
By his side, Carla Prospero, life partner and fellow visionary, shares his courage and dedication. Together they experiment, innovate and believe in the potential of native grape varieties.

Today, more than sixty years on, that dream lives in every glass, telling the story of a vision that became reality.

From one generation to the next, a story that continues

From the shores of Lake Garda to the hills of Valpolicella, the path that began so long ago has unfolded with clarity and purpose. Today, it is Nadia and Alberto who carry this story forward, with renewed energy and a deep respect for the roots from which it all began.

Territories

A passion rooted in the land

Covering nearly a hundred hectares of vineyards in the most prized areas of Lugana, Valpolicella and, more recently, Bolgheri, form the heart and soul of Zenato.

Here, we cultivate the uniqueness of our wines with care and commitment, celebrating diversity, enhancing local character, and honouring tradition.

The soul of Lugana

Along the southern shores of Lake Garda, the land reveals a landscape rich in history, nature and beauty.

It is from this very place that Trebbiano di Lugana is born, a native grape variety of remarkable potential and the starting point of a story that continues to unfold.

The Heart of Valpolicella

Among the hills north of Verona, Valpolicella Classica stretches across a landscape shaped by time, where vines grow alongside olive trees and ancient dry stone walls.
This is the birthplace of Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta, noble grapes that give life to wines of depth, intensity and timeless elegance.

The allure of Bolgheri

Among gentle hills and vineyard rows, where Carducci once praised the cypresses “tall and true”, Bolgheri reveals its radiant soul.
The soils, of marine origin, sandy and rich in stones, embrace the vine with natural harmony.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot find their most elegant expression here.

Guardians of Balance

Making wine is not merely an agricultural or productive act. It is a daily commitment that places us within a living, delicate, and complex ecosystem.
Every vine we tend, every cluster we harvest, is part of a greater balance that involves land, air, water, people and time itself.

To be guardians of this system means to act with awareness and respect, because the landscape that hosts us is not a resource to be exploited, but a legacy to be protected.
For us, sustainability is not a label. It is a tangible commitment made of small, consistent gestures, all aimed at nurturing harmony between humanity and nature.

Equalitas

Since 2021, we have adopted a path rooted in a holistic vision of sustainability, one that resonates with the land, our work, and the future.
It reflects the values we believe in: respect for the environment, care for people and balance between tradition and innovation.
This journey has allowed us to strengthen good practices throughout the entire production chain, from vineyard to bottle, and to share our commitment with transparency.
A responsibility to create wine that preserves without compromise the beauty of its land.

Biodiversity Friend

In our vineyards, we have adopted the Biodiversity Friend Protocol, which monitors biodiversity indicators by assessing the quality of water, air and soil across the estate.
We have also installed weather stations equipped with humidity sensors to support this ongoing evaluation.

Bee our friends

In 2023, we enthusiastically joined “BEE OUR FRIEND” in Valpolicella, a project that recognises the essential role of pollinating insects in safeguarding biodiversity.
The apiary, installed in the wooded area of Tenuta Costalunga, is home to 250,000 bees that produce honey and pollinate the surrounding land each day.

Developed in collaboration with “Apicoltura Urbana”, the initiative represents a unique opportunity to raise awareness of biodiversity and protect these vital yet rapidly declining insects. It also contributes meaningfully to ESG and SDG targets and aligns with CSRD directives.
In recent years, the creation of this apiary is part of a broader journey that has seen us increase projects aimed at reducing our environmental impact.

Save Guinea

For many years, we have proudly supported “Save Guinea”, an international charitable initiative working alongside the Franciscan missions in Guinea-Bissau.

Led with dedication by Father Michael, the programme was created to offer tangible aid to one of the most vulnerable areas of West Africa, through actions focused on health, education, access to water and essential needs.

We believe that social responsibility does not stop at the borders of our own land. Every act of solidarity is a seed for the future, one that can bloom even far away, where it is most needed.
With Save Guinea, we have chosen to walk beside those who care for the least among us with courage, dignity and quiet strength.
